Dolphins: Pavilion Key

Coming out off the Lopez River, two Dolphins breach completely right in front of my kayak. Perfectly synchronized, they arc out of the water just a foot or two apart, curve and then re-enter the sea.

They are then joined by a third and do a triple breach for Pat. For Fran, the trio surrounds her boat and churns the water.

We are all in breathless amazement at the experience.
Why are people so attracted to Dolphins? Why are Dolphins seemingly attracted to humans?

This is a great day for seeing wildlife, including three turtles and a ray.  When we stopped for lunch at beautiful little Turtle Key, we saw an amazing array of mollusks.  Roger discovered an abundance of live jeweled tulips and was even able to photograph two of them mating. The shallows waters were black with 1/4 inch conical-shaped snails.  The richness of sea life is fascinating.

The day ends with a swim in the warm gulf, a beautiful sunset from our sandy beach island, and Pat serving up a Mocha with brandy.
